Hours: upto 35 hours per week
Scale: £13,650 to £18,200
Reports to: Accounts Manager

Purpose of Post

Working with the Accounts Manager, to provide accountancy support for clients.

Functional Relationships:

Internal:
Managing Director, Operations Director, Payroll Manager and all DHBS Staff

External:
Appropriate individuals and organisations, including relevant local authorities, partner organisations, relevant national and international organisations, and other charities and professional groups as necessary.

Finance Objectives

1. To conduct day to day financial transactions such as bank reconciliations, invoicing, payments, petty cash, banking and VAT processes.

2. To produce month end adjustments, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations as and when required by DHBS clients.

3. Working with the Account Manager, prepare job costing, cashflow forecasting and budgetary information for use by clients as and when required

4. To continue to develop financial procedures in order to improve efficiency

5. To perform all relevant year-end functions on the accounts and be the link between client and external or internal accountant.

6. To maintain good working relationships with clients

7. To maintain confidentiality with regard to all DHBS and their clients financial information and documentation

8. To work as part of the DHBS team in a professional manner, in accordance with policies, procedures and equal opportunities practice

9. To keep abreast of developments by appropriate reading and relevant training when needed

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

Must be at least AAT level 3 or have min 2 years relevant experience.

Experience

1. Experience of providing detailed reconciliations

2. Production of management and statutory accounts.

3. Involvement in establishing or improving computerised accounting and financial management systems.

4. Involved in the development and management of budget and forecasts.

Knowledge, skills and attributes

5. Possess high levels of numeracy and be capable of accurately recording financial information

6. Strong IT skills especially Excel

7. Ability to manage workload and complete reports to set deadline.

8. Organisational skills with high attention to detail

9. Commitment to quality management of financial systems and practices

10. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

11. Possessing good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including communication with non-financially minded people

12. Knowledge of VAT or industry specific financial legislative requirements or ability to learn

13. Ability to work flexibly to support the needs of the organisation including occasional evenings and weekends.

14. Personal style, conduct and level of credibility which engages and enthuses others and encourages confidence and respect

15. High levels of integrity and honesty

Desirable

16. Experience of providing accountancy support on a self employed basis or part of a firm

17. Experience of producing accurate costings for projects
