Job Description
A new position has arisen for a Site Financial Controller. In this highly visible Site Controller role, the candidate will have primary day to day financial responsibility for a full P&L and Balance Sheet. The Financial Controller reports directly into the Regional Controller with a strong dotted line responsibility to the Plymouth UK site General Manager. The Controller will sit on the site leadership team.
The ideal candidate background will be in Manufacturing, as this role is a pivotal part of a fast paced and high growth manufacturing business. The ability to communicate and explain commercial issues to non-finance personnel is essential, as is strong stakeholder management skills and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
Responsibility for month end closing activities, as well as developing the annual Plan, monthly forecasts, cost reduction activities and 5 year strategic plans.
Manage the site Finance team, including General Accounting, FP&A, Government Accounting, and Project Accounting and Ops Finance functions.
Lead the Financial transition from a Project / Site level reporting levels to one of Product line reporting.
Help provide financial oversight and guidance on cost reduction, and Accounting Controls Assessments (ACA reviews), including policy updates and testing.
Support internal control initiatives in order to achieve favourable financial and compliance audit results, while executing corrective action plans on control issues and performance improvement observations noted.
Sit on Site Leadership team.
Coordinate/Support internal and External Audits as required.
Maintain Financial Policies and assure compliance with GAAP, Government Cost Accounting Standards, UTC and UTAS policies & Guidance.
Ensuring solid controls around Joint Venture accounting practices
Lead and manage the site finance team of 13.
The Successful Applicant
Knowledge required
The successful Financial Controller will be qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
US GAAP, Government Cost Accounting Standards
Manufacturing and Engineering Industry Experience
Industry Experience: FP&A, Financial Control, Auditing
Skills Required
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of effectively leading, mentoring, and developing a successful team
Strong written and verbal communication skills, Good leadership skills.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word and Powerpoint)., ERP, preferably SAP
Strong Financial background and business acumen along with an ability to make a contribution towards the strategic development of the business.
Highly numerate and comfortable working with complex financial models
Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally. A versatile personality with good problem solving skills and an eye for detail combined with sound numerical and presentation skills.
What's on Offer
£70k - £80k dependant on experience. Car/car allowance + bonus
