TIPS for Budgeting exam?!

Struggling with written sections:

If, for the questions that ask you to "write an email..." I did not write as though i was writing an email and instead just answered the questions, would I lose marks?

    I normally started the question "I have attached the draft budget for the year based for your approval and consideration. The figures for the budget have been calculated using this years actual figures" I would then put something like " the production and sales manager have approved of these figures" that is depended on the question you are given. I would then go into the details and explain the differences and why they have occurred etc.
