Are my qualifications valid if I decide not to renew my AAT membership?
Right now AAT offer seems to offer nothing to justify the fees they charge and the “charity’s” sole purpose for existence seems to be finding ways to charge members ever more money whilst offering very little in return, thus I’m giving very serious consideration to allowing my membership to lapse now I’ve completed my level 4 qualification.
I’m not interested in having MAAT after my name (I’ve already got two degrees and both universities allow me to add letters after my name, miraculously a service they manage to offer without charging me a couple of hundred quid a year for the privilege) so apart from not being on AAT’s members list will not being a member have a massive effect?
Thank you in advance.

The qualifications will still be valid, but you will lose the AATQB designation you currently use and you won't be able to show any prospective employer that you have continued your professional development.2

@Gingerninja
There has been a thread about this around a week ago, where we discussed this.
Personally, I won't renew my membership. I am studying with ACCA now and they offer pretty much everything as AAT do (except you can't sign off the accounts) for students without ANY additional memberships..Kind Regards,

Thank you both for the clarification.
Do you have a link to the previous thread?
I did search before I posted this but I could only find a thread from 2011.0 -
I've continued with my membership because it shows a commitment to CPD and gets me included on more searches on LinkedIn. Since I'm studying CIMA I was eligible to renew on a reduced rate so I think it's worth continuing.
Though once I complete CIMA and get to have CGMA after my name I doubt I'll continue my AAT membershipMatthew Dearlove MAAT
