Sorry guys.... its a mega hard exam and we should all feel proud by what we achieved. Its just very upsetting to get so close when the resit and the waiting for results is gonna take so long :(

    @Debbiereynolds74 @Bonnie28 I'm sure we'll all get it next time :) . Don't beat yourselves up.
The synoptic seems particularly difficult to me; it's the 1st AAT exam I've ever failed.

@Debbiereynolds74 That's brilliant =) ! I've actually already got the re-sit booked for 20th September. I booked it in advance just in case I failed due to feeling that the exam didn't go too great.

@Hopeful148 hopefully you're taking a wee break before you start!

Urg External Auditing is not my bag (going onto CIMA so I'm all about the numbers and analytics), but I know that I'm just a 70% pass away from completion and a guaranteed Merit pass so will tough out the next 6 weeks and hope for the best haha.

@bigevy08 - Most definitely, I can smell the wine
That's amazing, I did auditing and to be fair really liked it, pretty sure a lot was multiple choice too! You'll smash it, always more determined when it's the final one, that's how I was with this one.
Best of luck with it, you'll be fab x

Great job @Hopeful148 ! I have mine September 21st do you have any tips or revision notes you can share? 80% is a great score.

@byrno - thank you! I don't have any revision notes I'm afraid, but all I can say is do practice paper over and over again. Look at the written answers to those to see how they are structured.
If questions are worth say 3 marks, make sure you make enough individual points to cover these points.
Learn your ratios. I did task 1 & 5 first as these were computer marked and could get you some solid marks to begin with, then did the written answers next, but this might not help you it's how you work.
Also, youtube videos are available online which also use the pre-release of horizon hut tubs, so these are worth a watch on areas you are not as strong on.
Take your time, read the question thoroughly, but also monitor your time so you don't get rushed at the end or run out of time.
Best of luck, you've all got this!

    I'm a bit surprised but I passed (83%) so that's quite a relief.

Congratulations to everyone that passed, and my sympathy is with anyone who didn't pass on this occasion as its obviously a bit of a pain to go through that again (I've failed other exams previously), but it's definitely worth persevering.

It's such an odd exam and not like the others where you usually know whether or not you understand what's required so know if you've likely got it right or wrong. Instead it was really hard to know whether or not what you were saying was relevant or if you were just waffling nonsense. There was an extent to which I was mainly worried about it after the exam because I came out feeling like I didn't think I'd necessarily shown much in the way of accounting knowledge, more like a lot of it just felt like a reading comprehension test, and that I was mainly just repeating the obvious back to them.

I completely agree with everything Hopeful148 said. I also answered the questions in order of preference (so did the non-written ones first) so that if I was rushing towards the end the questions that I had less time on were ones I wasn't expecting to get big marks on anyway, plus you feel better knowing that you should have hopefully picked up a lot of marks early on so are just building on that, rather than feeling like you are playing catch-up after going through weaker areas.

Also (sorry I wasn't inteding to write this much!), as Hopeful148 also said I found the youtube videos really useful. To be honest a lot of that was far better than the major education provider's materials (not sure if I'm ok to say the company) that I paid quite a bit for and who's stuff I thought was really poor and lacking.

Best of luck to anyone re-taking x
