Hi I have my exam scheduled in February, anything in particular that I should be focusing on to ensure I pass? Iβm finding this unit quite difficult
Were there any questions about FIFO/AVCO?0 -
Task 1 is very difficult.
Task 2: reapportionment (direct method only). Remember BOAR Budgeted overheads/budgeted direct hours/labour hours * actual hours=
Task 3: it is quite difficult as well. I think all those silly equations came up like BEP.
Task 4: remember the working capital. Mine was not 365 days it was 90 days. This is quite easy. Also, remember the profits/disposals and deprecation whether they add or deduct to profit or cash. This is really simple.
Task 5 and 6: you will find this area very very difficult.
The AAT exams are way easier than the real part of the excel. It is difficult to even understand, let alone answer them.
Only 2 passed in our class.

With task 5 and 6 we should at least pick up some marks for the calculations. As per the mark scheme, not all marks are for Excel. That has eased my mind a bit.0
-
But actually 27% of the marks are from the Excel.
I don't know why they they put practice assessments on there, when they are never like them which is very annoying. Oh, when it says NO formula needed just plug in the answer.
Oh, and remember to learn segmentation.

Oh and just to let you know. On task 5 and 6, there are very limited options to go back (use the return option.) So if something goes wrong you are very unlikely to be able to undo it.0
-
Need to know BEP equation and cs ratio as well.0
-
For Excel I have read conditional formatting is important0

I am already tutoring somebody from this forum.
The excel is very very very difficult.0 -
I charge him Β£100/hr.0

Will Boardman on YouTube has a new MATSvideo - walkthrough of mock 2 part 10
-
Only joking above.
Have a go yourself at the paper, then watch him to see the areas that you need to improve on.
I cannot stress enough that the actually exam is far harder than the practice assessments; especially the excel parts.1 -

> Hi, Thanks for the message. I am not good on Excel at all, and I am now watching Michael's videos, to see if that helps me at all as I need to get marks on these Tasks which I cant avoid. James
Hi James did you pass the exam ?0 -
Yes I did thankfully, I sat BUAW on Monday which was not good, resit incoming!
There were loads of things in there I did not know the answer too, which were not covered my my book. I was not impressed at all.
The Pestle was on a charity shop which was not fun either!0 -
My pestlee was on a person that had hens0
-
Have you done the real assessment?0
-
It is pretty easy0
-
The excel was the only part that ****ed me up0
-
My MATS exam is later this month, just concentrating on Excel for the next week then do a recap of Tasks 1-40
-
Yh tasks 1-4 are really easy!!!0
-
I got 86/88 on those tasks and excel I did realky bad on. Got 81% though so itβs alright. Would have rather got a lot more0
-
And remember it will say no formula on some and you donβt need to put equations in like A1 plus A2 just type the answer.0
-
-
I have my MATS exam later this week. Still rusty on Excel but going through the 2 AAT mocks by repeatedly going through tasks 1-4 questions and also trying the Excel ones.0
-
Tbh, the real thing is so different and Iβm not joking.0
-
I had software issues at start of exam not Excel related. I thought the exam was fair except for Task 1 about a Cost Card - this was like nothing i have seen in any of the study materials. Excel tasks were medium hard i thought, only thing i was unsure on was Goal Seek.0
