Hi

Can anyone explain what this question on the licensed application form means in plain English?

To be licensed you must have at least one active business where your role is one of the following:

sole practitioner
director or principal in a limited company in which either you, your household or your family hold at least 5% of the shares
partner in any type of partnership arrangement
designated member or non-designated member of a limited liability partnership (LLP).

As a bit of context my father in law is going through an early dementia diagnosis. Husband has to apply for Deputyship and we need to submit accounts (his affairs are complicated) every year. I was looking at doing the accounts and forms myself but I wasn't sure which licence would be best to go for. I am MAAT AATQB.

Also any ideas on any software that would be useful for his account information to be tracked etc.

    Hi Cesheard,

Sorry to hear about your father in law and sorry that this reply is probably way behind the timeline you needed.

I'm in the process of making my AAT license application and I have taken that section to be asking what type of business you will be practicing as ie a sole trader, a partnership or forming a company and be a director.

I hope you have made headway with your application.

    Regards
    Alison
