Tips for first job in accountancy

Hello,

I am currently studying for the Level 2 certificate in accounting.
I am trying to have a career change and hopefully get into accounting. I haven't got any practical experience in that area which worries me.
My plan is when I finish the course to also do a course on Sage/quick books and well as a course in Microsoft office (mainly Excel).
Do you think that would be enough to get an entry level job in accountancy and compensate a little bit for the lack of experience ?
Do you have any other recommendations on what I can do to boost my employability?

Thanks in advance

My recommendation would try to get an apprenticeship which is with a firm working 4 days and 1 day for self study or at college. I did struggle to find a job, but I am a trainee accountant now after finishing my level 2 and 3 AAT.

I think that you're going to need at least level 2 to get started. I got a small part time bookkeeping job when I was level 3 and then got a full time job in practice while I was studying level 4. I started AAT at level 2 when I'd been made redundant (at 43!) and decided on a change in a complete career change.
