Introduce yourself thread?

Hi all, just thought I would start an introduce yourself thread, as I think this new Off Topic Forum is a great idea, and it would be really nice to get to know each other a bit better, outside of accounting. I know there is a 'Super-Team' thread in another forum, (hats of to the guy (Robert?) who started that one) but how's about a less accounting type intro?
OK - Here's me!
My name is Bryony, shock horror, and I am 26. I work in Charity Finance - the reporting management accounts side. I live and work in London.
For fun I like to go for nice walks in the countryside (what there is in London) or sit at home doing needle crafts. Also I like to beat my other half at Tiger Woods on the Xbox. That is always entertaining. And I am a morris dancer. 8)
I love good music - of course other people might disagree with my idea of good! I love Morrissey, Tori Amos, 10,000 Maniacs, Natalie Merchant, Rachmaninov and Patti Smith.
Now your turn!

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Good idea!
My name is Mandy, I was christened that (well actually Mandy Jane), not Amanda, so if anyone calls me Amanda, I ignore them!!! I'm 41, don't feel it, and work for Royal Mail. I work in Management accounts and have been there for 15 years. I drive a BMW, have a beautiful GSD (shown as avatar), obsessed with F1 and am on my 2nd marriage!!!! Music wise, I was a punk rocker  in my teens and saw many live bands (alas, not the Sex Pistols as I was just a bit too young, so I caught the after shock of it all), I still like loud music although at the moment I like my girls with attitudes eg, Pink, Christina and I have a soft spot for Robbie Williams too.
Ta Dah! Me summed up in a few sentences.. :roll:0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Excellent idea!
In my spare time I'm a frustrated writer. I've had some fiction published and my dream is to write a biography on someone I have spent donkeys years researching.
After AAT I intend studying a course with the London School of Journalism - this will be my 'me' time :!:
I'm an editor of a community mag which goes out to 3,000 homes and I also write articles and reviews for local papers.
Did I pick the wrong career... :?:
To keep fit I 'run' and belong to the best running club in the world. Their elete runners allow me to plod on behind at a very safe distance! So far, I've run a few half marathons and that is far too far :!:

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Hi I'm Gem
I'm 17, only left school just over a year ago and am studying Intermediate. I work in a VERY stingey accountancy practice doing basic accounts, all the crap admin jobs and I do a lot of banking and sales in the agency we have.
I have been living with my partner for just over two months and I hate it! Because I never see my four gorgeous collies at home, or my horses, rabbit or cat and I had to leave my baby grand piano behind.
I used to play the piano, I am part of a Netball club(training and one match every week) and I do a little bit of horse-riding. I love to read and eat out at restaurants trying all kinds of foods.
Erm... I think that's pretty much me!

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Hi everyone - I'm Anna and I'm 39...... the big 40 in March
I'm an accounts administrator for a construction company in Hampshire. I (usually) love my job so I'm very lucky and have really found my "niche." Unfortunately morale is very low here at the moment due to some major changes which have not been handled very well by the management - hopefully it will settle down again soon.
I am a mum of two - a son of nearly 19 and a daughter of 17.
I love the sea and I love walking so give me a beach and a sunny day and I'm more than happy
I've got a border collie called Kizzie who is adorable and two sweet cats called Phyllis and Lilian!!
By the way, I use the name "Bagpuss" because that's the nickname I have been given by the chef at a local pub after wearing a pink and white stripey jumper ONCE!!!!!
I like a wide range of music - I went to my first ever live concert in September which was the lovely Robbie..... and next week I'm going to see Pink....!!0 -

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Very good Helen, like that!!! Didn't see it as that, but now you mention it, yeah, they are not bad, they are a very cheerful band and I can't help singing (badly) along when they come on. A few people I work with went to see them live before they became "famous" and said they were very good then.0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
As opposed to them being not so good now?

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
I saw Elton John a couple of years ago in Bristol and the Scissor Sisters were the support.
They were the best bit! Fantastic if you can see them live.

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Nice idea,
Paul, 23. Hopefully will be finishing this course in December (well february when we get the results) Next year my partner graduates as a nurse, so Im very excited, as with the employment situatuion at the moment in the NHS, we will probably have to move to a different area of the country for her to find work, which sounds like a fun adventure to me!!
I love playing guitar, listening to music (mainly rock and punk) reading, going to the gym, and erm....the pub!!!!!!!!
Not a scissor sisters fan, but I am off to see Dirty pretty things on Sunday night!! (Anyone a fan :-))0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Put it down to age, but never heard of them :!:

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Bryony, erm, yeah, they have become very sucessful very quickly now they are in the public eye, so I guess they must be very good

PS I love your name, where does it originate from and not being too rude, can you spell it for me phonetically as I'm not sure how it's pronounced.
0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
That's not rude at all! In fact it is very lovely of you.
It is an English name, Bryony is a vine that grows in the woods. It's dealy poisionous, but a really pretty plant. It is pronounced like the guys's name Brian with an e sound on the end. So like Brian-ee.
Edit - btw, I enjoy the work of the Scissor Sisters!0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Wow, thank you, that's really cool. 8)0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
A damn fine idea and a good complement to the 'super team' thread!
I'm Robert, 39 and live in Lancing, West Sussex though originally from Mansfield (where real men are grown - the name says it all really). I work as jack-of-all-trades at a double glazing manufacturer and installer, covering accounts, IT, personnel manager and all round "do-er and fixer"...
I'm now divorced but have three lovely kids, two boys and a little girl who's my guardian angel... (damn, there goes my "street cred"!)
The only sport I play is badminton once a week followed by a beer or two afterwards. It always makes me laugh when people who've been to the gym complain how ker-nackered they are. I always say that I didn't actually go to the gym myself but feel perfectly fine! Usually raises an ironic smile...
I listen to all sorts of music but must admit a tendancy towards rock (well, okay if you can class Cradle of Filth and Slipknot as rock music!), even sometimes playing it extremely loud in my office if I don't want visitors!

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
I play badminton once a week too! Its really quite hard work isnt it!
I also live in retford not far from Mansfield!

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Chris. One of the old farts of the forum at 41. I live in Newquay in Cornwall from which I hope to escape at some point. Started Technician in September, hoping to finish in July. Work wise I'm a web-site jack-of-all-trades but looking to move into accountancy at some point. Boring hobbies include reading, music and cooking.
If you want to know about my somewhat obscure musical taste you can check out my last.fm page0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Chris - where abouts in Newquay you from?
Our family has an apartment opposite Whipsiderry beach, try and spend as much time as possible down there!
I am down there for a week over new year!0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Ah, maybe we could meet up for a drink. I'm near the zoo. I must say the days of me going out in Newquay on New Years Eve are well behind me though
0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Ah ha the zoo. I went there once, its the worst zoo ever.
The only disappointing thing about Newquay!
We usually go into the mermaid a couple of times (Im sure you know it) and mostly venture up to the oz bar.
I pass the zoo most days though going up the shops, under the aqua / via duct.
Do you work in Newquay to?
0 -
Re:Introduce yourself thread?
I work from home mostly, though I get out and about all over from time to time. Not been to the zoo since I was a kid so I've no idea what it's like these days. We used to go to the Mermaid during lunchtime at school when I was 17 - until we got barred. Ah the folly of youth.

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
I would live to live in Newquay, best place in the country!! I suppose Im glad I wasnt born there as you probably just take it for granted then?0 -

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Hi Everyone
I'm Eva and I live in Bristol (home of the gridlock). I am a recently qualified MAAT and I am a Bursar at a primary school (but looking for a new job as I can't get thick enough armour to wear for the back stabbing). I am married to the loveliest person alive and have 3 children who are currently hormonally challenged!!!!
I love gardening and taking long walks with hopefully some lunch thrown in. I also play guitar and love listening to a huge variety of music from Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams to Avril Lavigne and James Morrison.
Take care
Eva

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
Eva
You can't be married to the most wonderful person - because I am!!!
Seriously I'm Annette, grand old age of 37 living and working in Milton Keynes.
I'm married (obviously) and have 2 children - one of whom has the honour of being the first Friends reunited baby (check out the BBC website under Friends reunited search). I work in accountancy practice and am on my level 3 of ACCA.
My dream is to visit the pyramids in Egypt but that wont' be until the children have grown up.
And I hate trolls!!!

Re:Introduce yourself thread?
