Anybody ever been to one of these before?
I am going to one at a friend's tonight and not quite sure what to expect.
All I know is the chef comes to her house, cooks dinner with her products and then we look through a catalogue and see if we'd like to buy anything....

Re:Chef party
Do you do things with the Chef's turkey baster?.. you've gotta ask haven't you, I've never heard of one of those before but to me it sounds a bit suspect.
Let us know eh?0 -
Re:Chef party
Sounds like a modern version of a Tupperware party. I didn't know they were still going on as a viable marketing technique.

EDIT: But then, I have a very innocent mind and was assuming you were being sold saucepans, frying pans and so on.0 -
Re:Chef party
It sounds like an 'Ann Summers' but with a bird gettin stuffed lol

Re:Chef party
I went to a Pampered Chef one last year. Very expensive stuff.
I bought a couple of cheap things and sold them on Ebay so I didn't lose out!
:roll:0 -
Re:Chef party
You lot, how rude! :-)
Yeah I think it is a bit like a Tupperware party - I hope it's not too expensive! We moved into our new place on Sat and have spent far too much this month on new sofa etc!
Should be fun though - hopefully I can get away with buying a wooden spoon or something! She can't force me to buy anything can she!..... Can she?!?!?!?0 -

Re:Chef party
Wonder if he'll put a bun in her oven?
Sorry, I didn't start this but somehow feel the need to have my say and not be left out...

Re:Chef party
Phunky tried so hard to keep this thread serious.
Having said that, the last Ann Summers party I went to did involve veggies...
:oops:0 -
Re:Chef party
"Chocolate salty balls" anyone?
Sorry Helen, but you can't really expect much better from us calendar males on here and having just re-read the thread title, I now have that infamous South Park jingle playing in my head...
:?

Re:Chef party
Pass the parcel with root veggies!
By the end of it we were all stewing!

Re:Chef party
It was alright! It was a Pampered Chef one - I see what you mean about their stuff being expensive, but I managed to get away with only buying something for รยฃ9!
The woman was a bit pushy - I stupidly ticked I may be interested in hosting a party (thinking they might post me something) and she had me trying to book a date there and then!!
Unfortunately it wasn't as exciting as you guys are all making it sound, ha ha!!

Re:Chef party
รยฃ9 sounds good. I thought the dishes were far too expensive.
The problem with hosting one is that everyone knows it's going to cost them something - and you choose to buy something that's cheap, rather than something you will use.

Re:Chef party
They had 20% of their stoneware stuff last night, but I still didn't buy any of it.
There was a griddle frying pan for รยฃ80!!!!
Yeah I know what you mean - you do feel pressured to buy something.
I cheated and looked online before I went, picked something I liked and would use and was cheap! He he!
She had a cool food chopper thing but it was รยฃ25! Yeah it chops things up very quick but I'll just do it myself thanks!
I doubt I will host one.... I was just being polite!!0 -
Re:Chef party
I was tempted by the Chopper too - and the dishes were nice, but not nice enough.
You can buy the stuff on Ebay for a bit cheaper.0 -
Re:Chef party
Exactly - good stuff, but far too expensive!
There was a pizza cutter for รยฃ8!!! Sorry, but I got mine in Ikea for about รยฃ2!
Yeah I imagine it is much cheaper on eBay - not really bothered about getting anything though, just went for my friend's sake really as she was hosting!0 -
Re:Chef party
Same with me - you really know who your friends are!

I cant imagine that this does the job any better than a regular knife?0 -
Re:Chef party
Actually, yes!0 -
Re:Chef party
I agree - a handy tool to have, easier to use than a knife! It's a wheel which you just run across the pizza. However, I'm not paying that much for one!0 -
Re:Chef party
I must admit. Im really into cooking, but some of the stuff they advertise nowadays. 'The Jamie Oliver shaker' Its just a รยฃ25.00 pestle and morter!!!!!!0 -
Re:Chef party
I know - some of it is so stupid.
They had a thing last night which looks like a comb with metal prongs - you use it to hold something whilst cutting it with your other hand. What's wrong with a fork?
Also, a cake tester - a long metal rod to poke in the cake and see if it's done, again - what's wrong with using a knife?! Other than the mark it might leave I guess..0 -
Re:Chef party
Whats wrong with a metal skewer? most people already have those lying around surely?!
0 -
Re:Chef party
That's all it was - a metal skewer!
Some of it was just really silly.
Ah well, I'm happy with I got anyway!0 -

I laughed when I saw it!0 -

There was also a pump thing for your handwash - she said you fill it up with a tiny bit of handwash, top up with water and then it lasts for ages!
She said she's been using it for 3 months and it's only a quarter empty! I was pretty disgusted that she was washing her hands with 3 month old water - eew!0
