I hope you're not working until gone 10 again tonight!0 -
Re:Study Buddy
It's as a volunteer - my choice!
My horror-scope!
Your sense of maturity will be lost in a haze of nostalgia as you study those around you. Some of your inhibitions will be lost as you try to promote a soft and cuddly persona. However, your true character is never too well hidden and it isnΓ’β¬β’t long before you strive for perfection for both you and those close byΓ’β¬Β¦

Re:Study Buddy
Well, to be serious for a moment (apologies!), I believe that the decline of written English will be traced back to 'Toys R Us'.
When the history books are rit (sic) - remember you read it here first.

Re:Study Buddy
I hated that place when I was a kiddie, the advert used to come on and that song
"there's millions of jeffries all under one roof, it's called Toy R Us, Toys R Us-Toys R Us"

Re:Study Buddy
I was thinking more of how the name was spelt - but your point is valid. The end of civilisation!
I quite like the tune, though!

Re:Study Buddy
I gathered, I always go off on a tangent though, you should know that by now!

Re:Study Buddy
It's never been the same since we stopped using Middle English. I blame the Great Vowel Shift myself.

Re:Study Buddy
I've been wearing my proof-reading hat (I think it should be a hard hat by the time I finish writing this!) and we are all guilty of writing lazily and incorrectly.
I also blame text messages. Because we are only allowed so many characters before we are charged for two messages as opposed to one, many ingenious abbreviations and symbols are used which have become universally recognised.
However, the end result is that some people (ppl) end up writing like that in everyday use of the written word.
It could be the way the language is evolving, personally, it's just laziness.
Cue the torrent of abuse now.0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Have a good weekend Katie!0 -
Re:Study BuddyI think it was reported in a national newspaper a couple of years ago that soon enough, there'll be examinations which allow answers to be in 'txt speech' which is utterly ridiculous.
That's terrifying. I think I may be one of the only people under 25 who can't speak txt or l337 (pronounched 'leet' as in ΓΒ©lite).

Re:Study Buddy
Well i understand 'Txt Spk' But i tend not to use it even in text messages! It amazes me how so many words have been changed just to fit into a text message! I mean who came up with all the different ideas?! :? I remember when hardly anyone in my year knew what lol meant! Now everybody i know uses it nearly everyday! :roll:0 -

No - but they hold them all over. 10k is a disaster for me because everything hurts for the first few miles, and then when I feel OK, the race is over.
I'm way down south where I fight a constant battle between running and eating cream teas!

Re:Study Budy
Completely random question:
Can anyone tell me how to go about attaching an eyelet to a piece of fabric? I've been given the task of making various props, and I've gotten stuck. I'm trying to make a silk purse (not out of a sow's ear :P ) with eyelets rather than the usual drawstring type.
Cheers

You need a little gadget that is sold in hobby/craft/fabric shops. You bash it with a hammer. I have one somewhere. It only cost a few quid.
