    Correct. Dinner time is 7pm.
    Its nearly lunchtime.
Or at least it is down south :)

(I'm waiting for the sandwich selling person to arrive too)

On the North/South thing - I nearly wrote into the Metro after an article by someone called Tom Laherty from London basically saying that London funded every city up north!!!
What? You mean it's not true, Jamie?

Maybe it's just the Scots and the Welsh that we fund then?

(Note to oneself; Must remember to include those oh-so important smileys in future...)

And this would help the south's perception of the north how? :)

Actually, I'm not a fan of London and can hardly wait to move out of its shadow. In a few years I'll probably move up to one of the medium to large sized towns/ cities of the East Midlands/East Anglia- Norwich, Cambridge, Northampton, Lincoln- those kind of places.

Since it is now my LUNCH time thought I would join the debate.
Tea time is at night, usually the main meal of the day. (Except on Sunday when I used to cook sunday lunch around midday)
Does anyone refer to supper? My family used to think they were missing a meal if they didn't have tea and supper.

Not getting into the North/South/Scots/Welsh one.

Edit: Put J's request to a fight down to age, rather than location.

i used to have supper when i would stay over at my nans but i dont anymore, havent even heard the word for quite a while actually.
Everyon here says dinner hour rather than lunch hour! i think it must be a regional thing. It was also called dinner hour at school by our teachers!

    Re:Study Buddy

Supper - I used to think it was a class thing, as it seems to relate to what I would call tea.
My mother would give us supper - a light snack before bed.
It used to be dinner at school - as in dinner ladies - lunch ladies doesn't sound quite right.

Tea on a Sunday was quite a different meal to other days - sandwiches and cakes etc. Haven't had it for years now that I don't do Sunday Lunch.

It does get confusing - can you imagine going to a friends for tea expecting dinner and getting supper

I love visiting London, but wouldn't like to live there.
Now who do you class as Londoners - 'cos they have their own regional thing going on too. When I said to a cock'ny colleaque that I was going to London - she asked what part, after that I refered to Fulham which is where I was actually stopping. London to her meant "The City".

As for Birmingham being central, its more difficult for me to get to than London or Manchester - from God's own county (Yorkshire). :)
