I hated it! Section 2 was too confusing, too many calculations for the time given! :evil:

    Section 2 was more poo than section 1. Hopefully re-sits in december will be easier :lol:

    Call me sick but I quite enjoyed it, people are better at different subjects i guess, DFS screwed me sideways yesterday :/

    Oh but did anyone else struggle remembering how many grams were in a kilogram? That did throw me for a few minutes, don't think i've converted a gram to a kilogram since primary school. Our tutor actually came in after an hour and told everybody.

    i agree. its not proper for a tutor to help their students especially during the exam. its not fair!!!

    It was really hard!!,This is my 3rd resit for PCR & looks like i'll be doing it again!!!!

    Got my 3rd resit for PTC tomorrow and still not confident with shares, so maybe sitting that one again!!

    Feel like given up!! as I can't afford to carry on either, these resits are costing me a fortune and my motivatation is sinking :(

    Well, I first worked out 100 grams in a kilogram, but when i noticed my materials cost more than the turnover I panicked big time. I went through all my calculations, then rejigged eveything with 1000 grams in a kilogram - this all worked out a bit more reasonoble. As soon as I walked out the first question I asked was...."How many grams in a Kilogram", when I found out it was 1000 I was sooooooooooo relived.

    Section too was bad, a lot of writing though - and I started getting hand cramp!

    Thank god its over, that's all i can say.

    I agree, surely that is wrong on so many levels? I couldn't believe them putting that conversion in there :? I guess I am lucky that in the company I work for we do measure most things in grams and I quite often have to convert to kg - otherwise I would have been completely stuffed! The paper was definitely different I think from past papers but it was a pleasant one.

    Shortly after the exam started, somebody walked to the front with paper in hand, I assume to ask the question. It wasn't for another 45 minutes or so when the tutor walked in and shouted it out. It did seem a little strange but i'd guess he had been to make a phone call to check it would be ok. Most people would of probably done the question involved already anyway.

    It is rather surprising isn't it? I mean we've only been metric since the early 70's and I think Helen's the only one on here who can remember the old pounds and ounces!

    It wasn't that I didn't know - I just had a mental block, and couldn't remember if its 100 or 1000! I think it was stress in the exam.

    Simbo, Your tutor has no right to tell you anything during exams hour. It is very unreasonable for you to even mentions it. :shock:

    I know you were all under stress, but kilo means 1000! Not exactly a killer question.
    Maybe schools should be teaching better?

    Well i felt very deflated after this exam. Unfortunately we didn't get the help of our tutor and rightly so, but it meant i used 100grams (stupidly) in a kg, then i got sooooooo confused i ended up leaving out the operating budget and just attempting what i could but my figures were higer than my turnover.
    I just hope the pass rate for section one is really low.

    just to let every1 know if u did use 100 instead of 1000 for 1kg your pretty daft but they cant hold it against you, aslong as you have done the correct calculations etc and shown all working you should be ok.

    To the tutor who told you that was really bad next thing it will be how many pence are in ร‚ยฃ !!. I think that college should be sent a warning letter

    I thought that it was really unfair they had put that metric conversion into the paper, I got home and looked at papers going back to Dec 2002, and there has never been anything like it before. This is my third attempt at sitting this exam and i thought I would have done fine if it wasn't for that.
    Unfortunatly the AAT probably thought it was common sense, but funny enough I didnt revise metric units as there was no warning that they would be in there, and I havent been to school in about 8 years so why would I remember something like that if I dont need to!!
    Lets hope the AAT take this into consideration when marking the papers!
    As for the people whose teacher came into the exam, surely the AAT should do something about that, because if i'm not mistaken that is conferring which is one of the don'ts on the front of the exam paper!!!

    Let's be fair, grams in a kilogram is NOT a conversion!
    I left school 12 years ago but I still know that sort of thing, and it is the sort of thing you should know in the big, wide world. You're going to be in a lot of trouble when you have to measure things!
    I recall there was a paper where you had to work out the conversion rate for $ into ร‚ยฃ?

    Yeah that paper was to do with exchange rates though. Unless you use grams and kilograms in the 'big wide world' how are you to know them. I have never used grams and kilograms since leaving school, unless you do a job that is to do with measuring, there is no need to know them and it completly threw me off key trying to remember how many grams in a kilogram. :?

    your just looking for excuses, your the ONLY one on the forum that is complaining about that. Everyone else knew it, it is common knowledge you just didnt know it.

    But now you do and you will probably remember it for the rest of your life so stop moaning and accept that if you fail it probably wasnt because you couldnt convert g to kg !

    If you actually read properly you will see I am not the only person complaining about it!!
    So I have sat the exam 3 times does'nt make me thick, I just put this to the least of my priorities when I have had 2 or 3 other exams to do!
    I thought the paper was fine,if in a normal situation I probably would have known how many grams are in a kilogram, but I'm not very good with the pressure of exams.
    There is no need to be rude about it and take the mick!!
    Also if you didnt sit the exam, how can you possibly comment on what you thought it was like!!
