Re:Avatar
Just cat lovers? Not one for controversy, me...farmergiles wrote:Robert quickly alienates himself from all cat lovers on the forum.
I loathe cats with a vengeance but I do recognise that others feel differently to me. I just see them as you come home after a hard day at work, there's the cat lolling all over the the sofa, looks up at you and miaows, making you go, "Aaaahhhh, how sweet"! But I bet if you could read his thoughts, he's really thinking, "Good you're home at last, now get my f*****g dinner on, you biatch..." So my theory is that all cats are male chauvanists regardless of their gender!
Now dogs are different, I do like dogs...

I love dogs. Cats? Not really me.0 -
Re:Avatar
I'm Pro dog - AGAINST cats... awful little scroty fur-balls.
Dogs play games with you and are big enough to snuggle (depending on what dog you got). They know they are fed when they are good....
As Rob says, cats just expect. If I was a gazillionaire, I would have the biggest mansion filled with rescue dogs - no pedigrees - all mongrels and once a week i'd let a cat loose in the grounds :P well, maybe I wouldn't but it would be funny.0 -
Re:Avatar
Can someone explain to me why cat owners let their cats crawl all over their kitchen worktops? How can that be healthy? And litter trays. Don't get me started on them.

Re:Avatar
I'm with Robert, J & Helen re cats - although don't think I could strangle one, well eh ...... no.
J - that amount of dogs would absolutely stink - pity your army of cleaners!!! And just think of all that scooping, on second thoughts don't, it is lunch time. Cats can be pretty rough with dogs - nearly blinded the dog I had when I was a little.
Helen - you are single DO NOT GET A CAT.

Re:Avatar
I have a cat. inherited from my late Mother. It doesn't walk over the worktops, a swift kick up the arse stopped that. It is not very affectionate nad it hates dogs. When it pops it's clogs then I will get another dog.0 -
Re:Avatar
I'm a dog person (obviously). Dogs love you unconditionally whereas with cats it's always on their terms.
We adopted a cat when we moved because the previous owner left her behind! She is very sweet and loving, but she's not allowed in the house, she sleeps down by the stables so she can catch the mice :P and to this day I've never seen a live mouse down there.
She's not very good at getting rats though. Although to be fair they were bigger than her
The sheep have gone now
they've gone back to the farm. When the farmer came over to collect them he couldn't understand why they weren't obeying the dog who was supposed to be rounding them up. We didn't have the nerve to tell him that ours did such a bad job, the sheep actually chase the dogs now  0 -

Your place? When? Where?
Funny how a thread on avators is now the discussing cats and dogs
and parties.
Oh and just to lighten the mood - the hearse has just past my window, thank goodness it didn't stop at the hospital opposite.

Easy, I dont let them over the worktops no more than I would let a dog. Regarding litter trays, I agree, dirty smelly things whatever you put in it. My cats actually sit at the door and 'Meeoww' when they want to go out, I suppose similar to a dog wanting to go out for a dump.....or a walk. They also come running when I whistle them, again similar to a dog.

Re:AvatarJan wrote:... we could also discuss foot & mouth! Farmer must have got his sheep moved just in time.
They can't wait for it to come down here. Last time there wasn't one farmer who didn't do well out of foot and mouth. (Apart from the ones who didn't get it!) By the time the insurance and the clean up has ben paid for, they've made more money out of that than they would if they'd sold the livestock.
Our old next door neighbours used to have a massive cattle and sheep farm, and they got hit quite bad last time. With the insurance they managed to buy a brand new house with no mortgage, and neither of them work!0
