I'm a first year Apprentice in local government, however, the majority of things I cover in college aren't relevant to my daily or monthly duties in work, I'm wondering if there's ways I can gain some actual experience in bookkeeping and make my college experiences relevant?

If you think it might be taken well, you could try asking your line manager if there's any opportunity to take on additional tasks?
Not all line managers would take it well though, they could think a) that you're over-ambitious, or b) that you feel your current tasks are too "boring", or something similar. It's the kind of thing that needs to be asked in just the right way...Accounts Executive, ғɪᴀʙ ᴍᴀᴀᴛ
