sounds like you are quite glad to be home. I am going to Dublin for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Hope it's worth the money and effort!
very glad to be home. concidering I have spent 4 days constantly walking from 9 in the morning till about 9 at night.....yes to actually sit down and relax is a god send !0 -
you ready for this
We had no more than jamie afro switch on our christmas lights last night.0 -
Jamie Afro could barely sing to start with and is about as much "rock" as Ronan Keating or the dead one...0

-
Looks like you are NOT going to get your wish Mark.
Have the always sung so bad? Loved the "is this a singing contest competition?"0 -
Jedward have finally gone! AT LAST!0

I have a feeling they will make more monry than even the winner....who I think should be Joe...he has an amazing voice and is so cute.....0 -
i think simon has probably already signed jedward as he only sees money, not talent.0
-
I find it hard to understand how people get so worked up choosing between the spectacularly useless (Jedward) and the crushingly mediocre (everyone else who's ever done well on X-Factor).0
-
While it's not my first or even second choice of music, I could never deny that Leona Lewis wasn't an exceptional X-Factor discovery and certainly not (IMO) mediocre. In fact, most of the winners of the various X-Factors, Pop Idols and the rest have all been very good in their genres and the fact that those who didn't go on to achieve major success, I feel is more down to the lack of talent and genuine industry cred of their representatives and managers rather than through any lack of talent from the singers themselves.
Most of the males can sing far better than our current stars such as Robbie Williams and were the latter an unknown trying to achieve fame through these talent shows, I think he'd barely scratch the finals never mind winning any of them.0 -
I wouldn't deny that many of the contestants on X-Factor etc can sing OK but then so can many people. What does Leona Lewis have the makes her stand out from the dozens of MOR R&B singers that clog up the charts these days? I'm no great fan of Robbie Williams but at least he has the sort of personality and charisma that characterises the genuine pop star, how good his voice is is irrelevant. The fact that he probably wouldn't win X-Factor says more about the ways such shows promote stultifying blandness above individuality than it does about Robbie.0
-
The difference between Leona and other R&B singers is that she isn't limited to just one musical style and does genuinely possess a world class singing voice.
As for Robbie, well he picked up the pieces following his Take That exit and developed a stage persona that grew with the confidence of having a few major hits but has since seen it's decline when he - ahem - started recording any old cr@p thinking people would continue to blindly buy it before finally realising they weren't.
Then there are the musical virtuosos like Rush who have all the stage presence of slugs. Or conceited personalities like Barbara Streisand who just comes across as a rich bitch who only sings live for rich people or coked off their heads like Whitney.
In fact, it's pretty hard to think of anyone who has supreme vocal or musical talent yet still remains tremendously entertaining without being too biased. But if I was paying ยฃ30-ยฃ40 for a concert ticket, I guess I'd want entertainment over ability...0 -
I'll take your word for it on Leona Lewis, I'm not that familiar with her oeuvre. There are few of my favourite singers that I particularly value for their technical ability (Cocteau Twins' peerless Liz Fraser, Diamanda Galas and Peter Hammill being exceptions) and manyl would be considered by normal standards downright ropey. Mostly it's individuality, expressiveness and and that indefinable something that does it for me.0
-
well you two can argue all you like about the musically talented .....but for entertainment value .....good old robbie !!!0

Robbie Williams could ravage the bones of my dead grandmother and people would still love him for it as long as he gave one of his trademark "winks"...0
