No class on Wed 26 October
Hopefully the homework I gave out last week will be enough to keep everyone on the boil.
Here is another question (it was in the handout)

I shall miss my class on Wednesday - I really look forward to the interaction and enjoy the learning. Hopefully it will stimulate my brain into regenerating new cells haha. Yes - we have plenty homework to keep us out of mischief, thank you.

HELP!! Fly4Less HOmework ... Im confused ... the OARs are per Quarter ... the Task 1.6 mentions flights per WEEK .. should we be recalculating our figures to be weekly so we can work this one out? Somehow this doesn't seem right as the Actual v Budgeted costs are quite close if I just calc them As Is ... Ive finished it - but filled with doubt :-(

    I'll post some guidance soon
The 1.4 and 1.5 tasks are looking at budgeted OARs per mile flown for the quarter

1.6(a) is looking for the absorbed overhead (OAR x miles flown)

During the first week of December 2008
is just when the miles were flown. It is rather like saying x hours were worked during the first week of December and the actual overhead incurred was £ xxxx for that period.

    Here is my attempt.
I had to copy from excel into word as I could not upload the excel fileAttachment not found.

Yay! Thank you Sandy ... this is almost exactly what I have done (logic :-)) .. only difference is ... I used the Gen Admin figures given in the Overhead budget to be reapportioned (7800) ... otherwise all the rest of our figs match .. and I also got an UNDER absorption! You're a STAR for responding so quickly Sandy - Thank you! See you Wednesday .. Lemon Cakes Everyone?

    Homework is only
    Size 14 Fancy Blouse
    and Size 15 Gentleman's Shirt

So only go as far as page 10

When you do the cost per units for size 14, please avoid rounding off your figures (that will help your cost per completed unit figure and the evaluation amounts)

Phew! I had it written down as pages 11-13, and was about to come and shout for help! Hopefully I'm the only one who had it written down wrong or we might have some confused people tomorrow =/

    Hi Sandy

Thank you very much for your tips.

Homework done… one question 'Do we round off cost per unit i.e. £4.1666666 (Size 14 Fancy blouse) to input the figure into the CPU box?

    Many Thanks
    Ronnie

I suggest that you leave it rounded to 4 places but keep the whole number in the calculator for later calculations.

    Tonight we meet
    Normal loss
    Abnormal loss
    and
    Abnormal gain

    Quick note for Jason
Before you hand over any money - please contact me
Something you said made me think you could use your degree to exempt you from CIMA certificate
So you could possibly start CIMA Operational in Feb 2011
