hey all. only now got a chance to get on here. i know i have made a few mistakes and couldn't remember the fya aia stuff (when its used) had a complete blank. but did make sure i underlined the fact there was an associate company as i missed tat on a mock test. i answered everything but not sure how accuratly.

am suprised to see so many posts on this as there were only 8 people sitting the exam where i was. i actually started wondering if i was there at the right time the car park was so empty! no confident even though people keep saying i sound it because i said i didn't leave gaps. doesn't mean what iv written is any good though. maybe 3rd time next sitting lucky

There were 3 full classrooms at our college!!! I'm sure you'd have done fine, it seems the majority of people have messed up somewhere, me in particular!! Lets just hope we've done enough :-)

Although i know ive made some glarers of mistakes i thought the info sheets to tear out were full of info, really didnt think all the WDA percentages would be on there etc etc

    Primble,

This is my 2nd sitting too. I found the exam today easier than December and soooo angry with myself for getting confused in section 2 with PCTCT and that blumin CT600 form which is the 1st time I've ever done one! Funny there were only 8 doing at my college today too in Hampshire - so much nicer in a little room that that horrid sports hall.

I am hoping for 3rd time lucky too!!!!

Me too answered every question...just not very well! Oh well i have been revising so hard i couldn't of squeezed any more in! I think i've revised so much that I have confused myself rather then helped myself if that makes sense, specially doing PTC alongside.

I apportioned the capital allowances right in first question and then for some reason crossed it out and then done it wrong, i had a mental block for some reason and couldn't think, so i done it to the financial yr end and not the sole traders year end. I am baffled why i did this! I feel such a fool. I attempted the basis period question but think i time apportioned the figures wrong, which means my NIC's will be incorrect too.

I found section 2 ok apart from missing a few things that should of been disallowed. But i know section 1 has let me down for this one. So gutting after all the studying i've done but can't change it now. Just get on with PTC and hope all my efforts pay off with that one.

There were only 4 of us in bristol. I was more nervous this time. I think the more people there are around you the more you realise other people are in the same boat.

On the NIC what was the correct amount of months for the class 2 contribution? I went for 9 months because the tax payable only related to a 9 month period.

I did my calculations to 5th April y/e - so 11 months. Not saying that's right though :-/

    Hiya folks

was just curious if anyone remembered what they got for the PCTCT in section 2
    roughly
    and what corp tax roughly
I know I will have to wait for the paper just so curious to see if anyone else did the corp tax at 28% less marginal relief and ended up with a PCTCT of arround 271000

    must stop torturing myself

    Hiya,

Might not be much help as I know I did mine wrong as I forgot to add back on the property income in the calculation.... doh! I got 188k ish for the PCTCT (so adding on the 68ish I think it was for property income I would say I got around 260k as a rough guide). I did definitely use marginal relief though - I scaled down the bands for the associate company.

Can you remember what you had disallowed?

Well at the time I was sat there thinking, this can't be marginal relief because there's not enough room given for the calculations............. But i obviously had to go with the figure I had and it needed marginal relief on it.

    Hi there

Yes, you really must stop torturing yourself. What is done is done. As you can see from the forums, the answers vary wildly yet somehow the majority of us pass. My section 2 had CA of £118,860, the chargeable gain on shares came out at £299xx, I added the income from property £68400 but failed to add back the lease charge so I think my figure came to 253xxx after deducting the gift aid. I then grossed up the FII to £600 and added this to my profits. I charged 28% to the PCTCT then applied the formula 7/400 of 750000-253xxx which after deducting from my 28% figure, gave me a tax liability figure of about £62xxx. I then fudged the return to make it reconcile to my figures.

No I was at City Point above the pub across from Temple Meads. Seat 1. I've got seat 2 tomorrow so maybe we might hit double figures?!

Pretty sure it said margin, I made the selling price £1200 for this I think....
Yea - I read somewhere in the texbook that it is worked out as 100/60 x amount so £1200. So the difference of £1200 and £720 is £480.

I thought that the lease legal fees are allowable too! It says its allowable in my kaplan book!
It wasn't worded well. I took the lease to be regarding a NEW lease so it's capital and therefore not allowable. They must realise the question didn't really CLEARLY state which and give some margin for error on that.

    I agree with 9 months. So 52 weeks/ 12 months x 9?? 39 Weeks?
